Star-studded opening ceremony of PSL 5 to be held today


Karachi: The star-studded, glittering opening ceremony of fifth edition of Pakistan Super league will be held at National Stadium Karachi today.
As many as 350 artists will perform in the opening ceremony of the HBL PSL 2020 at National Stadium Karachi.

The metropolitan city is to be set alight as artists from different music genres Sufi, pop, rock, bhangra and folk  will come together to perform at what will be the biggest opening ceremony in the history of the HBL PSL.

Thousands of fans in the stadium will be on the edge of their seats and millions around the globe will be glued to their television sets as world renowned artists will perform in the ceremony.

The artists includes Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Abu Mohammad, Fareed Ayaz, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali, Sanam Marvi and rock band Soch.

Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Haroon and Asim Azhar will perform PSL 2020’s official anthem Tayyar Hain.

On Wednesday, The Pakistan Super League (PSL) fifth edition trophy was unveiled at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Former squash player Jahangir Khan brought the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 trophy to the stadium. It was the first-ever trophy unveiling ceremony on the Pakistan soil.

The PSL 2020 is set to begin on February 20 (today) at Karachi’s National Stadium.

The 34-match tournament will be the biggest cricket tournament to take place in Pakistan after the Asia Cup in 2008.

The six-team tournament will be held across four venues with Karachi staging nine matches, Lahore 14 matches, Rawalpindi eight and Multan three matches.

In the opening match defending champions, Quetta Gladiators will take on two-time former winners Islamabad United at the National Stadium in Karachi.

On the other hand, Sindh Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Omer Ahmed Bukhari visited National Stadium Karachi (NSK) to inspects security arrangements for PSL 5.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place as all eyes are towards the fifth season of PSL. Police and Rangers have been deployed inside and around the National Stadium in Karachi. The pitch has been given a final touch and the outfield has been turned pleasant. Spider, hawk eye and other cameras have been installed in the stadium.
