Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army on Tuesday has successfully test-fired an Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) ‘Ra’ad-II’, said a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s public relations wing.
According to ISPR, the training launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command, responsible for Pakistan’s cruise missile forces.

The weapon system is equipped with state of the art guidance and navigation systems ensuring engagement of targets with high precision.

The military’s media wing added that the air to surface and at sea cruise missile Ra'ad is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads upto 600 KMs.

According to the ISPR, the missile “Ra’ad-II” significantly enhances air delivered strategic standoff capability on land and at sea.

It is essentially a flying bomb, generally designed to carry a large conventional or nuclear warhead many hundreds of miles with high accuracy. Modern cruise missiles can travel at supersonic or high subsonic speed.

President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed their appreciation to the team, and congratulated the nation on the feat.

It is pertinent to remember that on January, 23, 2020 the Pakistan Army has successfully test-fired a surface-to-surface ballistic missile ‘Ghaznavi’.
