Pakistan confirms ex-TTP spox Ehsanullah Ehsan’s escape from custody

Islamabad: Pakistan government has officially admitted that former spokesperson of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Ehsanullah Ehsan had escaped from the custody of the state.
Interior Minister Ejaz Shah while responding to reporters’ question about the escape of the TTP leader said that Ehsan had fled the custody.
A lot is going to happen, the minister said when he was asked about action against his escape.
Earlier, Ehsan claimed in an audio message circulating on social media that he had managed to 'escape' from the custody of the state.
Sources said that the TTP leader had voluntarily surrendered on February 5, 2017, adding that he had started providing intelligence information before taking him into the custody of security officials.
In his confession before media after initial probe, Ehsan uncovered his facilitators and handlers, besides condemning the extremis and terrorist activities.
Security forces, sources said, broke the network of TTP and Jamat ul Ahrar in and outside the country after receiving information from the Ehsan.
The former TTP spokesperson was due to get punishment for what he had done but it was necessary to get important leads from him to conclude the operation before he went into trial.
Various intelligence operations based on his information are still underway, sources said and vowed to bring all extremists including Ehsan to justice.
