Disqualification case: Court directs ECP, Faisal Vawda to submit response till March 12
Islamabad: Islamabad High Court issues notice of disqualification petition against Election Commission of Pakistan and Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Wowda.
According to details, the Islamabad High Court had filed a disqualification petition on the basis of Faisal Woda's concealment of his US citizenship on the occasion of filing nomination papers during the 2018 general elections.
In the petition, Advocate Qadir Khan Mandokhel took the stand that Faisal Woda had concealed his dual citizenship at the time of the election. The petitioner had requested the court to suspend Faisal Wowda's membership until a final decision was made.
The petition states that the federal minister is no longer honest and since he filed a false affidavit with his citizenship. Upon arrival, Faisal Woda quietly requested to leave the United States citizenship. The petitioner contends that the evidence proves that Faisal Wowda was a dual citizen at the time of the election, so Faisal Woda should be disqualified and ordered to return the privileges.
The court said in its remarks that the decision will be made after hearing the parties. The court issued notices to Faisal Woda and the Election Commission of Pakistan, seeking a reply by March 12.
